Retirement Exploding Box

I must get back to posting more frequently.  At least I have a backlog of makes to include in future posts! I suppose it has been the garden that has occupied most of my time of late.



I made this exploding box for a friend and ex colleague who retired this summer.  She is moving to Spain so she is making huge changes to her life.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the Rennie Mackintosh Rose designs ( files purchased from Silhouette America)

 
 


I have long admired the designs of Mackintosh and own a couple of his style in stamps.  I also own the computer font.  I used this include some quotes that I felt that were relevant to her situation.
 







I used white card to cut the files and then used Promarkers to colour - so much quicker than using different colours of card. The base card is textured with a gold sheen.

 Since I took these photos, I have added a thin strip of black card to the sides of the lid. This made a much neater finish.

 

Another Exploding Box

I was asked by a colleague to make an exploding box for her father's retirement/65th birthday after she had seen one that I had made on my blog. Luckily I had enough materials left from the previous project to carry out her request.




I scanned some photographs that she gave me to include in the finished product. She was delighted with the result- I hope her father is too.

Latest project

My latest make is this exploding box. It was commisioned for a 40th birthday by a colleague. I posted a similar one earlier and it always pleases me when I create something that is personal to the recipient and will, hopefully, be kept as a reminder of a special day.

Still here...............

Just a quick post to say that I am still here crafting away. This is proof of my endeavours. Making a similar exploding box to the one posted previously because my work colleague like the original so much. Will have to change the embellishments to make it different.
