Sew and then Sew

I've had the sewing machine out for the last few days.  I had a request to make some of my iPad beanbags and subsequently decided to look for new fabric to add to my stock. I came across this owl print - and I had to have it.

So, when it came to the Less is More challenge this week, I decided to incorporate  the sewing machine in the creation of my design. Here is the theme:

                                           Three Colours

or

Three Shades of One Colour

I keep all of my scraps of card in separate colour collections so I went for the blue hues folder.
I chose a Sizzix heart die set to cut the hearts out of card and funky foam. I originally had meant to use the hearts alone but I felt the need to add the central vertical card strips.  These were secured into place with a line of machine stitching.  All that was left to do was to add the sentiment.

Allstars

I was  recently  asked to make two cards to be given to the same person by two of his aunts.  I find it difficult to come up with completely different ideas in these instances but needs must.  For the first, I used Craft Artist 2 as I was given a photograph to incorporate into the design. (I forgot to take a photo of the finished card)

I then decided to make a Concertina card decorated with striped and star papers.  It just grew from there really!

As you can see it is a 50th birthday card. The scary thing is that I remember the recipient as a young child!!!

From there it was the Silhouette Cameo  using holographic gold card  for the 50 and the sentiment.  The stars were cut using a Sizzix die and glitter card.

Another arrival - get out the Big Shot

A work colleague became a grandfather for the first time on Thursday. His daugher in law - baby's mummy, is an ex pupil of mine so I just had to make a card. I got out the Big Shot again and produced a variation of a previous card posted.

My friend, Crafty Susy, has tried to persuade me for ages to purchase a Cricut. She, herself, started with the original red Sizzix die cutter and progressed to the Big Shot and then moved on to the Cuttlebug. ( I think that the Wizard was in there somewhere too) She is whizz with the Cricut and I am periodically tempted to move into electronic die cutting. I have great conversations with myself about it but,as yet, remain undecided. I appear to have a sense of loyalty towards my trusty BS friend. He has done me well. For a time I sold diecuts on Ebay.... giving up because it was too much effort for little gain but BS could have gone on forever it seemed!

Anyway, back to the new baby. I can't let the opportunity go to make a mini scrapbook so I await some lovely pics so that I can get started.

New baby in the family

Met the new baby in the family yesterday. This is my niece, Hollie, with her gorgeous nephew Andrew.

Got my Big Shot out and used Sizzix dies to create this card for him.

I also made this mini scrapbook using a Sizzix die so that mum can carry some pictures of Andrew in her handbag to show him off.
