30th Anniversary

I had to produce this 30th Wedding Anniversary for a friend at short notice.  She was off to her holiday home in Crete and the recipients of the card are friends and neighbours there.

I applied Imagination Crafts Sparkle Gel to an Art Nouveau stencil from Glitzcraft  on to pearl card. The stamped image is one from that wonderful set free with the latest Creative Stamping.  It has been heat embossed with gold embossing powder.  I constructed the sentiment with a mixture of stamps and heat embossed this in the same way.  As pearl is the symbol of a 30th Wedding anniversary, I included a pearl embellishment to the design.  The completed card is 6" square.

One Stencil - Two Techniques

   Which do I prefer?




I mentioned in my previous post that I had purchased FlitterGlu and Dreamweaver embossing paste and that I would be "playing" with them. Well here are my first attempts.  I used a Sweet Poppy stencil purchased at the SECC with both of these mediums so that I could see which technique I preferred.



Here we have the embossing paste example.  The stencil and card were held in place on my cutting mat with masking tape before applying the paste with a palette knife in one movement.  The stencil was removed ( carefully) and left to dry for a few minutes before sprinkling ultra fine glitter in red, silver and gold. 


There are one or two gaps in the glitter but I am happy with it.


I didn't feel the need to add any embellishment or sentiment to the card.

Here is the result with FlitterGlu.  You will see that I didn't manage to get the definition at the top of the feather.  The glue snuck under the stencil. However, I don't mind the result.


To be fair, FlitterGlu is primarily meant to be used with stamps and this stencil has rather fine detail.


The glue was invented by Kay at IndigoBlu and friend, Susie, asked her to demonstrate its use with their Mega- Flakes  and with one of the stencils that she had bought that day. Kay obliged. The result was fab and I knew that I would have to give it a go. 

I used a palette knife to scrape some of the glue on to a piece of cut and dry foam. "Less is more" said Kay.  I did not heed this on the first two occasions - they are in the bin!

I was a little worried about stamping with the FlitterGlu but ...it worked with the Happy Birthday sentiment.

The black card was mounted on to gold satin finished card and then on to a red satin finished card blank. The finish doesn't show up on the photo.

Which do I prefer?  I couldn't choose.  I enjoyed working with both of them but I especially look forward to using some of the stamps that I saw and.... will buy... on the IndigoBlu stall.
