OLW17

It has taken me a few days to get round to making a card for this week's challenge at Simplicity. Work gets in the way!

This week we had to create a one layer card with a border stamp. I decided to use a rollagraph wheel that I have had for some time and have not really used much at all. I saw it demonstrated at a craft fair and, as usual, the demonstrator made it look very easy. However, I still need a lot of practice to get the pressure even. It is particularly difficult when applied to a one layer card as I find that it is almost impossible to get the design symetrical. You can imagine what this pile of spoilt cards looks like, I'm sure! I did trim a little strip from this card to make it look OK.

As a Scot, I am understandably attracted to Celtic designs. Much of the Celtic Art that we see nowadays is inspired by the Book of Kells which I would love to see in real life. Youtube will have to suffice in the meantime!

I have decided to attach a ribbon to this card although it is not now a one layer card without embellishment. I have spent today with a desire to add another element so I gave in. I am still happy with the original card but again I am surprised at the difference in the two cards. That's why I craft!!!.

resources:
Rollergraph -Celtic Border
Sentiment - HOTP, ink - memento tuxedo black

To reply to questions about my method of using the Rollagraph system, I have added a post with information here.

this is one amazing stamp image and you did a great job lining it up!! Have you seen Waltzing Mouse Makes stamps ... she is from Scotland (I think, or maybe Ireland) and creates many Celtic related stamps. Just google the name and you should fine her ... her name is Claire and she is a wee lovely thing!! :-)

WOW! However did you line up that wheel?????? It looks perfect! I have to remove the rubber from my wheels and stamp them flat in order for them to look half as good as yours! Gorgeous stamping! I really like the addition of the ribbon...it adds just the right amount of balance to the card!

Okay, so I understand it is a one layer challenge...but I think the ribbon was a perfect addition! I have several wheel stamps, and I am totally terrified of using them! I can't for the life of me get them to stamp straight...that plus the fact that I've misplaced the ink that goes with them.

Your card is simply fabulous...and you're great with the stamping wheel!!
