Birthday Girl
Today is the 13th birthday of my niece Hollie.This time last year she was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. I remember that her birthday present was given to her in a hospital ward. I marvelled at that time of her acceptance of the disease and the impact it was to have on her life. She became an authority on diabetes overnight. No panic - just a calm acceptance of her situation and an academic approach to the practicalities involved.
