Less Is More - Week 81

This is the first challenge that I have taken part in for a while.  Needed some inspiration and the Less is More blog is certainly the place for that. 

The theme this week is "Tearing". 

I needed a male birthday card so I thought that I would incorporate this element in its design.

I did a lot of "ripping and tearing" when making some of my earliest cards - mostly with handmade papers.  I loved using a waterbrush to wet the paper then pull it apart it to reveal feathered strands.   I used this method when making wedding stationery for someone several years ago....but after completing about two hundred items, the appeal kind of disappeared!

Here I started with a 5" by 7" Kraft card blank and decided to keep to a  natural theme. I stamped the vintage car ( Personal Impressions) and used a waterbrush to tint it.  The paper that it was stamped on was from a HMRC (tax) envelope which was very easy to tear!!!  I inked the edges to give them better definition.   The binder edge border was created with an EK Success punch.  I haven't used this much but at the time that it was bought it, I thought that I couldn't live without it! (familiar?)  The sentiment is from the same set of Personal Impressions stamps.

I took this photo in the conservatory where I have a number of wooden items displayed on the windowsill.  I just decided to bring the toadstools into shot because they fitted the "natural" theme of the card.
