Birds of a Feather

I have been trying to visit as many blogs as I can  in the last few days to find out what is "happening".   These sessions often leave me feeling rather inadequate.  Can you believe the talent out there?  What really gets me is that some have been "creating" for such a short period of time but have quickly reached a level that I just wonder at.

I do feel that we, as individuals, are all creative to some degree.  Crafting has become big business of late because it satisfies a creativity that has probably been latent for many years. The Internet has played a huge part in encouraging this trend.

It pains me to say this, but lately, Education is to blame.  Here in Scotland, the Curriculum for Excellence,(our curriculum) emphasises the importance of the Arts in a child's development but, as far as I can see, budget constraints have meant that there is a real decline in the provision of specialist teachers. I know of primary schools where there is no such provision at all.

Ok, off my soap box ...I've almost forgotten the reason for this post!

I visited fellow Aberdonian Suze Bain's blog.  Have a look. She is a very talented lady.  She takes part in  The Crafty Cardmaker's Challenge.  This is new on on me but I decided to play along, too.  The theme this week is Winged Things.

I have been interested in using Spellbinders Nestabilities as a frame rather than as a diecut shape so incorporated this into my design.

The stamps used were from Crafty Individuals. i stamped the birds again then cut them out so that they could be decoupaged with Pinflair Glue Gel.  I then passed the frame through a Stampin' Up embossing folder before adding it to the card with 3D foam pads.  A little ribbon and 3 pearls finished it off.

Thanks for the mention Lilian, I find there's no point in trying to compete with anyone - best just to 'do your own thing!'. My daughter is the first intake for the new curriculum - I do worry about it, I don't even think they've sorted out the exams yet. Onto your card, those birds are just fabulous and you have framed them beautifully. BTW, have you managed a trip out to Alford yet!? xx
