I purchased a Pebeo Mixed Media Discovery set in order to explore a new medium. Loved using them! I used a 4" square ceramic tile as the base for my exploration. In addition to the above paints I used Pebeo Vitrail and gilding flakes to complete the project. The tile has been mounted into a 6" box frame. lililindsayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01017166347195682973noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6776173804238717833.post-69345802610119638352017-04-20T00:40:00.004+01:002017-04-20T00:40:53.259+01:00AWOL<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">No Excuses. I cut the card to create a diagonal shape and added a border using a Martha Stewart butterfly punch . To continue the diagonal theme, I got my score board out and embossed lines to give dimension.<br />
<br />
The sentiment is a die cut.( Tattered Lace)<br />
<br />
Finally, I used a Martha Stewart punch to cut the single butterfly, glued it to the denim card and then cut round the shape. This has been added to the card with a 3D Foam pad.<br />

So I decided last week to try and group a few together. I chose these - </span><br />
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-veFwlzYyLSfEuzjDmGXxOhvKyB5bf9G10h1TBnTIeEvGM5RmWLoB2Nnuk2y3nj5e1r01i9BSB0nvucuqnWkWdVpFUKNJFIz_aX_RcPnQ2V-zVT33vYLXLAHiUDCo9JLEcy-KdFHryJi4/s1600/REPETITION+STAMPS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="138" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-veFwlzYyLSfEuzjDmGXxOhvKyB5bf9G10h1TBnTIeEvGM5RmWLoB2Nnuk2y3nj5e1r01i9BSB0nvucuqnWkWdVpFUKNJFIz_aX_RcPnQ2V-zVT33vYLXLAHiUDCo9JLEcy-KdFHryJi4/s320/REPETITION+STAMPS.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I drew a vertical line with a pencil on a piece of white card to make sure that I got the images aligned. ( rubbed out later)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0a_fRgQkoQ4ezTErmwzGxguOXmYg4IelQYoMINtq-tN0RT8rwNW6IJqtflVCtWQxUh3vdRe_fq8WxNEz2bbao5y4Q-rucr2Yr9tgxOBcqPApmEi7Vw8HKZh-NTiu4h9hJbTqiSsMqCWCb/s1600/REPETITION.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0a_fRgQkoQ4ezTErmwzGxguOXmYg4IelQYoMINtq-tN0RT8rwNW6IJqtflVCtWQxUh3vdRe_fq8WxNEz2bbao5y4Q-rucr2Yr9tgxOBcqPApmEi7Vw8HKZh-NTiu4h9hJbTqiSsMqCWCb/s640/REPETITION.jpg" width="467" /></a></div>
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0a_fRgQkoQ4ezTErmwzGxguOXmYg4IelQYoMINtq-tN0RT8rwNW6IJqtflVCtWQxUh3vdRe_fq8WxNEz2bbao5y4Q-rucr2Yr9tgxOBcqPApmEi7Vw8HKZh-NTiu4h9hJbTqiSsMqCWCb/s1600/REPETITION.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"></a>I coloured <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAUkBYEhSWjVDwB9XCNdER5IStuwOEneO8Njzcq6TH2xXezPDCKHvj4Vu5-pay6BNKJLnwH_-3yunS6_7l2iFk5UkVGTxcxpX-62xQpW14npJChTjcahYSfRkZVfh3O1O_bZDoS9hJQ6Dg/s1600/REPITITIONCLOSE.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAUkBYEhSWjVDwB9XCNdER5IStuwOEneO8Njzcq6TH2xXezPDCKHvj4Vu5-pay6BNKJLnwH_-3yunS6_7l2iFk5UkVGTxcxpX-62xQpW14npJChTjcahYSfRkZVfh3O1O_bZDoS9hJQ6Dg/s200/REPITITIONCLOSE.jpg" style="cursor: move;" width="133" /></a>them with Spectrum Aqua watercolour pens and then cut the card to size. This was then layered on the two more pieces of card.<br />
<br />
I used my Mini Perfect Layers tool to make the cuts equal on all sides. This was then mounted on to an A6 card blank.<br />
<br />
<br />
So when I visited <a href="http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.co.uk/2016/07/we-have-come-around-to-another-theme.html" target="_blank">Less is More</a> and discovered that this week's challenge theme was <b>REPETITION</b>, I knew that this would fit the bill. A clairvoyant moment!<br />
<br />
The stamps are from a Crafters Companion box of little stamps that were given to me as a gift by a friend. I will certainly try to use them more in the future.</span><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana";"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana";">I started by wetting watercolour card and then dropped the powders on to its surface. The great thing with this method is that you never know what you are going to end up with. You are forced to take inspiration from the result. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana";"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana";">I immediately saw a daisy like flower emerging so used a water pen and the fine tip of my Spectrum Aqua pens to delineate the petals. I stamped a Sheena Douglass butterfly stamp with Versafine ink and then removed some of the colour from its wings to give an illusion of depth. The sentiment came with the butterfly stamp.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana";"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhl0MCPnBDL3pG_w7q1G3KYch9xp9_g2olxWFBsom7arD-a6pGXgb8B56XQbEYOF8Vg8jeCMeFeUO-xfbMsnslMWm6JAJjjjj9B-Cc1pzf26ZlpBZDK9z-nPFULjeks6KJDgLeTV4kYYqmc/s1600/brusho+butterfly.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhl0MCPnBDL3pG_w7q1G3KYch9xp9_g2olxWFBsom7arD-a6pGXgb8B56XQbEYOF8Vg8jeCMeFeUO-xfbMsnslMWm6JAJjjjj9B-Cc1pzf26ZlpBZDK9z-nPFULjeks6KJDgLeTV4kYYqmc/s640/brusho+butterfly.jpg" width="451" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana";">As I used yellow pigment and have included a butterfly and it is intended as a card for someone who is leaving behind her final school year and is moving on to a new phase in her life, I am entering it into the <a href="http://butterflyspotchallenge.blogspot.co.uk/2016/06/57-butterflies-y-is-for-years-andor.html" target="_blank">Butterfly Challenge</a> where the brief is:</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana";"><span style="color: purple; font-family: "cambria" , serif;"><b>#57 Butterflies + Y is for Year </b></span><span style="color: purple; font-family: "cambria" , serif;"><b>with the additional option of Y is for the colour Yellow.<span style="color: black;"> </span></b></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana";"><span style="color: purple; font-family: "cambria" , serif;"><span style="color: black; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b><br /></b></span></span></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana";"><span style="color: purple; font-family: "cambria" , serif;"><span style="color: black; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I know that there is no direct reference to a "year" but I hope that the inference is understood.</span></span></span><span style="font-family: "verdana";"><br />

But...I just couldn't resist owning <i>Penny Black's Pure Iris</i> cling rubber stamp.</span><br />
<br />

Such a pleasant surprise.</span> <br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I have spent another week working in the garden. I bought several new perennials and need to find space for them. All this rain that we have been having has resulted in everything making a huge spurt in growth. I need to be ruthless!!!</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I thought it appropriate to make a thank you card for <a href="http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.co.uk/2016/07/colour-week-283.html" target="_blank">their latest colour challenge</a> which involves <span style="color: #741b47;">using your kitchen colour scheme</span> as inspiration.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana";">I am just getting in under the wire here as tomorrow brings a new round of inspiration.</span><br />

In my garden, I do have rampant Welsh poppies that I am constantly trying to tame ( eradicate!) but I still appreciate their beauty. Here are a couple of this year's pics of the more cultivated of the species.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This CAS card has been somewhat troublesome in the making! The brief over at <a href="http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.co.uk/2016/06/week-280.html" target="_blank">Less is More</a> challenge was <i>for a </i><span style="font-size: medium;"><i>One Layer Card</i></span><i> with the theme of </i><br />
</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><i>Splatters</i></span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">
</span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><i><br /></i></span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">
</span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"></span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">But... the "one layer" didn't register in my brain and I made a panel before attaching it to a blank card.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Now, "splatters" is one of my fortes, although they are of the unintentional sort, so..... this is my 4th attempt.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">
</span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">
</span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">
</span><div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I applied <i>Brusho</i> paint medium to a feather stencil then over stamped the matching feather ( HOTP) with black <i>Versafine</i>. The intentional splatters are from a set of<i> Ink Splats</i> by <i>Visible Image. </i>The sentiment came free with a magazine, as did the feather stamp and stencil. </span></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br />
Phew ... off to the empty the waste paper bin!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div align="left" style="text-align: center;">
<b><i><br /></i></b></div>

I made a similar sewing box some years ago at a class. I used alcohol inks to colour a plain paper mache box before decorating the lid with hand cut embellishments. buttons and a safety pin. The "tape measure" was cut from a designer paper. I nearly forgot...I used a textured stamp and a gold ink pad before adding the embellishments.</span><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

So I used my favourite Tim Holtz Papillion stamps and some designer paper to give it another look. <br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I have a passion for puffins so this evening my OH and I set off to visit Fowlsheugh RSBP reserve, which is about 20 miles from us, in the hope of seeing some of these beautiful birds. The sun was shining but it was very windy. Being so close to the cliff edge, I was more than a little nervous. Unfortunately, although we witnessed thousands of birds returning to the cliff face for the night, we thought that we had not seen any puffins. It wasn't until we got home <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhosCGXZQD35E0hnONq_D-avbgWR1FDbaclMX3PS495AlNqAa2U_mM0Z2dgFGYOGVgy25Ga9G_sbRLzUWhwxGwHbMm3rXUB4444N5ZhKTM8nUc8ZkIXFD8HlZ0yiDb_Z0RLXyfeNmPvETaL/s1600/puffins+group.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"></a>and looked at the photos that we discovered that we had indeed captured a couple.</span> (top left!!)<br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The diagonal element was achieved by hand embossing bubbles from an embossing folder. A bit tricky but it achieved the desired effect. I coloured the fish with Crafters Companion watercolour pens and finished with CC clear sparkle pen. This was then cut out and using 3D foam pads, attached it to the card.</span><br />

The dragon stamp is one that I used in a previous post from Personal Impressions. I stamped the dragon on to white card then stamped again on copy paper and cut it out to use a mask. I used gold card as a mount before adding this to a red base card.</div>

Their delicate yellow blooms were once a welcome addition to my borders but now they pop up everywhere and my other plants have to compete with the current invasion.<br />
<br />
So, somehow, it feels a bit wrong of me to choose a poppy stamp for my entry into the<a href="http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.co.uk/2016/05/week-275-colour-challenge.html" target="_blank"> Simply Less is More Colour challenge</a> this week!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I applied Imagination Crafts Sparkle Gel to an Art Nouveau stencil from Glitzcraft on to pearl card. The stamped image is one from that wonderful set free with the latest Creative Stamping. It has been heat embossed with gold embossing powder. I constructed the sentiment with a mixture of stamps and heat embossed this in the same way. As pearl is the symbol of a 30th Wedding anniversary, I included a pearl embellishment to the design. The completed card is 6" square.</div>
